Co-Curricular

The aims of co-curricular opportunities at Clifford Bridge Academy are:

• To provide a wide range of experiences and opportunities both within and beyond the school day

• To develop the ‘whole child’ ready for future pathways

• To build an awareness of ‘positive mental health’

Delivering of co-curricular opportunities at Clifford Bridge Academy:

The Inspire Curriculum extends well beyond the 2014 National Curriculum and includes a wide range of activities and opportunities to maximise every moment of the school day.

Our lunchtime provision includes a wide variety of sporting opportunities for all age ranges, access to Thrive activities and the school library to access books.

Performances and productions

At Clifford Bridge, we ensure we value performance and allow children to showcase skills. From Nativities in EYFS to end of year productions in Year 6, we ensure children have the opportunity to perform.

Clubs and competition

As part of our continuing commitment to school sport and the enhancement of ‘the lived daily experience’ of our children, we offer a wide range of clubs. Through feedback from children and parents we have developed a tailored and highly successful bespoke offer that is catered especially for our children. This includes a thriving football team for both boys and girls, athletic competitions and other sports events working with other schools in the local area.

Forest Schools

At the Clifford Bridge, we use Forest Schools to help children further develop their confidence, self- esteem and supported risk taking in a safe natural environment. As children become familiar with Forest Schools, they take their new-found confidence into the classroom and into other areas of their lives.

Progressive co-curricular opportunities

We value the strength of giving children progressive opportunities in their school offer, both inside and outside of the classroom. Our children leave Clifford Bridge in Year 6 with memories of both visits and visitors which have helped them to learn and remember new knowledge as they have moved through school. Each year the children visit a place linked with their learning. It starts in EYFS with a trip to the farm progressing to Year 6 five day residential at Plas Dol-y-Moch in Wales.
